Video resume script template (60 to 90 seconds)

Updated November 2, 2026 · Anthony Delmotte

In short. A video resume lasts 60 to 90 seconds, about 140 to 200 words. Introduce yourself, say what you are good at, prove it with one achievement, explain why this role or company, and close with enthusiasm. Record it looking at the lens, not at your notes.

The template

Replace everything in [brackets] before you read. Each paragraph becomes one card. 106 words as written, before you fill in the brackets.

Hello, I’m [first name], and I’m applying for the [job title] role at [company].

I’m a [your profession or field] with [number] years of experience in [area].

What I do best is [one or two strengths], and I love [what you enjoy about the work].

At [previous company or school], I [one achievement, with a number if possible].

I’d like to join [company] because [a specific reason: their product, mission, a project you admire].

I’d bring [what you will bring to the team], and I’m keen to learn [something you want to grow in].

Thank you for watching. I’d love to tell you more in person.

How to make it yours

  1. Tailor the last third

Keep the first half the same for every application and rewrite why this company each time.

  2. Dress and frame like the interview

Head and shoulders, eye level, quiet background, soft light from the front.

  3. One achievement with a number

“Cut response time by 30%” sticks; “good with customers” doesn’t.

  4. Keep eye contact

Recruiters notice when you read. A script right under the lens, following your voice, hides it.

Sixty to ninety seconds. Recruiters rarely watch beyond two minutes.

Can I read my video resume from a script?

Yes. Most candidates do. Keep sentences short and the text close to the lens so it sounds and looks natural.
