Free teleprompter for singers: scroll your lyrics on stage

Updated October 27, 2026 · Anthony Delmotte

Short answer. For lyrics, use a steady scroll, not voice follow: speech recognition is made for speaking, not singing. Paste the song into our free online teleprompter, set a big text size and adjust the speed with the arrow keys during the first verse.

Set it up for a song

  1. Paste the lyrics, one verse or chorus per paragraph, with an empty line between them.
  2. Choose a large text size: on stage you read from further away than you think.
  3. Leave Follow my voice off and set a slow starting speed.
  4. During the first verse, use ← and → to match the scroll to the song. Space pauses during a solo.

Hands-free control

Page-turner pedals made for sheet music usually send arrow or space keys, so they can pause the scroll or change its speed while you play.

Which screen

A tablet on a mic-stand holder or a laptop on the floor monitor works. For a camera shoot, put the screen under teleprompter glass with mirror mode.

Why not voice follow?

Voice recognition expects spoken words. Held notes, harmonies and loud instruments confuse it. A steady scroll you control is more reliable for music.

FAQ

Is there a free teleprompter for lyrics?

Yes. Our online teleprompter is free, runs in the browser and works for lyrics with a steady scroll.

Can a teleprompter follow my singing?

Not reliably. Speech recognition is built for speaking; for songs, use a steady scroll and adjust it as you go.

Can I use a foot pedal?

Yes, if the pedal sends arrow or space keys: they change the speed and pause the scroll.
