Free teleprompter for PC and laptop (Windows, Chromebook)

Short answer. Use a browser teleprompter: nothing to install on Windows or ChromeOS. Our free online teleprompter runs in Chrome or Edge, scrolls at your speed or follows your voice, and works with your keyboard.
How to use it on a PC
- Open the online teleprompter in Chrome or Edge.
- Paste your script and choose a text size you can read from where you sit.
- Pick a steady speed, or tick Follow my voice and allow the microphone.
- Press Start: the prompter goes full screen. Space pauses, the arrow keys change the speed, Esc stops.
With a webcam
A laptop webcam is above the screen: keep the prompter in a narrow window at the top, centred under the camera. With an external webcam, clip it to the monitor you read from. To record, the Windows Camera app, OBS or your video call app work alongside the prompter.
Control it from across the room
A wireless keyboard or a presentation clicker that sends arrow keys can change the speed while you stand back from the screen.
Filming on a phone?
When the camera is your iPhone, the script should be on the iPhone too, right under the lens. SmoothCue does that, with the text following your voice.
