Teleprompter for a startup pitch or demo-day video

Updated October 23, 2026 · Anthony Delmotte

In short. Most applications ask for one to two minutes: 140 to 280 words. Cover the problem, your solution, traction, the team and the ask, in that order, and read it from a prompter under the lens so you look at the investor, not your notes.

The structure investors expect

  1. Problem (one or two sentences, with a number if you have one).
  2. Solution: what you built, in plain words.
  3. Traction: users, revenue, growth, pilots.
  4. Team: why you are the people to do it.
  5. Ask: what you’re raising or applying for.

Every word counts

At one minute you have about 140 words. Write long, then cut until it fits; the speech time calculator tells you when you’re there.

Several founders

Give each founder their own cards and record them separately, then edit together. It’s easier than passing the phone mid-take.

Delivery

Energy matters more than polish. Record several takes, keep the one where you sound like you believe it, and don’t over-rehearse into a monotone.

FAQ

How long should a pitch video be?

One to two minutes for most accelerators and investor forms. Check the application: many set a hard limit.

Is it OK to read my pitch from a teleprompter?

Yes. Investors judge clarity and conviction; a prompter helps with the first and lets you focus on the second.
